Glenn Deville 1952 - 2001

USADTF and all Track/Field people are saddened to learn of Glenn's early departure. Glenn was well liked by students and staff at the Lousiana School for the Deaf as well as all Mason Dixon Conference schools. He has attended many DAFUS/USADTF events over years. He had always been willing to extend his helping hand in many wayes.  USADTF will miss Glenn.

More on Glenn Deville.

Tiffany Granfors - A Red Hot Commodity!

2000 has been a busy and great for our secretary, last November, Gallaudet University announced Tiffany as the new Head Coach for the Gallaudet track/field team. As if it was not enough, Donalda Ammons, CISS Secretary, hired Tiffany to be run the CISS Home office in Silver Spring, MD as a part time.  Oh, we can't forget that she is also USADTF Secretary as well.  She has her hands full for 2001!

USADSF Athletes of the Year Honors

Male and female Athletes of the Year are selected based on their outstanding accomplishments in the proceeding calendar year. The USA Deaf Sports Federation is very pleased to announce this year's selection:  Heather Lightfoot of Bothell, Washington, and Brandon Reese of Houston, Texas. Both Hex and Brandon are outstanding young athletes with years of competition ahead of them.  We look forward to watching their accomplishments in the years ahead, and at the 2001 Deaf World Games in Rome, Italy.  (more on the story)

ONLY 187 days to the training camp! (As of 01/01/01)

Before we know it, all DWG athletes, coaches and staff will be hitting the Gallaudet University campus for our 2 week training before we head over to Rome!  All Athletes are busy getting in their best shape and raising funds.  Each athlete has to raise $3,700 to cover all expenses including the training camp, uniforms, shoes, and many other things.  Both USADSF and USADTF are always seeking sponsors and contributors.

Friends, USADTF asks that you recognize our athletes and help them out any way you can.  The athletes would appreciate it very much.  We would appreciate any $$ contributions to help sending our athletes to Rome to collect all Gold, Silver and Bronze medals we can bring back home!

2000 - USA Track and Field Conference New Mexico

Thanks to USA Deaf Sports Federation, we were able to send 2 representatives to the conference in Albuquerque, NM last December.  Tiffany Granfors, USADTF Secretary and Heather Lightfoot, Female Athlete of the Year attended and have gained a great deal of contacts, knowledge and exposure for the USADTF. They met one of our USA/DWG coaches, Karen Boyle there. We hope to send more representatives next year to be heard!  It will be in Memphis, Tennessee.  (comments from Tiffany and Heather)

Next 2 Youth PANAMDES sites have been selected!

During the 2000 Youth Panamdes, the 2002 and 2004 hosts were selected.  For 2002, Veneuzela won the bid while Montreal grabbed the 2004 hostship. USADTF is working on how to establish a team to be sent to those meets.  Most likely, we will look at feeders such Family Track and Field Games and afew other youth programs to help us form a team.  Those young athletes are OUR Futrue Deaf Olympicans!
